Rebecca Loubriel Avitia
In the Spotlight:
When Rebecca Loubriel Avitia, PC 2001 and member of the butterfly family, steps up to accept her award as Trinity University's 2014-2015 Outstanding Young Alumna on November 20, she really will have earned it. The wife and mother of two currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and recently left her job as an attorney to become the Executive Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. While at Trinity, Rebecca was a sociology major, President of the student body, and a regular on the Dean's List. She says her favorite AX memories are of her bid day in 2001. After graduation, Rebecca attended Columbia University School of Law and interned in the office of judge Sonia Sotomayor, who would later become our nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice.

Celebrating the Journey
In October, Alpha Chi celebrated 17 years of sisterhood! Actives invited alumnae to return to San Antonio to share their journey since graduation. Here's a re-cap of the weekend.
Welcome New Alumnae!
We informally welcomed the women of the class of 2014 into the post-grad sisterhood with a casual senior happy hour at one of San Antonio's hottest bars: The Brooklynite.
Cocktails & Community Service
We celebrated our founding month of April by volunteering at the San Antonio Children's Shelter, followed by AX-themed drinks at Tycoon Flats. We're looking to expand the event to other cities next year. Let us know if you're interested in planning an event for your area!
